MAAGAL Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 21, 2026

Effective date: October 21, 2026

Important Notice:

MAAGAL™ is currently under early-stage development. Our data practices may evolve as the MAAGAL™ mobile application (“App”) and all related services (collectively: the “Service”) develop. We will notify you of significant changes through the App.

User Access & Consent:

Any reference in this Privacy Policy to "we," "us," or "our" refers to MAAGAL™. Any reference in this Privacy Policy to “you” or “your” refers to you, and the term “user” refers to you and may refer also to each of the other users of the Service depending on the context.

This Privacy Policy describes how MAAGAL, operating out of Israel, collects, uses, and protects personal information about you when you use the MAAGAL mobile application ("App") and related services (the "Service").

MAAGAL is a social matchmaking platform where connections are made through networking circles. MAAGAL aims to foster genuine, trust-based connections. The Service relies on real social relationships — you are expected to know and trust the people in your circle, and to ensure that the information provided is fully accurate and reliable, and does not violate any of the Content requirements and restrictions to protect the privacy rights of others as set out in the Terms of Use of MAAGAL or under applicable law.

MAAGAL is tailored for orthodox / traditional Jewish singles seeking meaningful relationships within their community. The Service's features, matching criteria, and user experience focus on the values and traditions of this community. Certain data we collect (such as faith, denomination, and relationship preferences) reflects this community focus. This is not intended to express judgment toward, exclude or offend any person of any ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

This Service is intended for users residing in the United States, Canada, Australia and Israel. If you are not resident in one of such intended areas of Service, do not use the Service.

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. Where the law requires your separate consent — for example, for sensitive information — we ask for it separately, on its own screen (see §6.1), and accepting this Privacy Policy is not that consent. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS PRIVACY POLICY, DO NOT CREATE AN ACCOUNT AND DO NOT USE THE SERVICE. If you are in Australia: your information is stored with, or disclosed to, service providers outside Australia (see §11). We remain responsible for how they handle it, and we do not ask you to give up that protection.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you create an account and use MAAGAL, there are several categories of private information that you provide us with, such as:

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we may collect automatically:

We use Firebase Analytics (Google) or similar services for usage analytics. Firebase may use device identifiers and cookies or similar technologies to collect usage data. While you are signed in, analytics events are also linked to your internal account identifier, so that we can see the sequence of screens that led to a crash or an error you experienced; they carry no name, email address or phone number. Analytics is part of the Service and cannot be switched off within the App (see §8 below).

When you answer a check-in or change your dating status, we record an analytics event with the answers you chose, without your name, the other person's identity, the match, or your note. Firebase may associate such events with the device identifiers and the internal account identifier described above.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

We may receive certain personal information when you sign in using third-party services (Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In), as permitted by your account settings with those providers. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT YOUR USE OF THIRD-PARTY SERVICES IS BETWEEN YOU AND THE APPLICABLE THIRD-PARTY PROVIDER, AND GOVERNED BY YOUR CONTRACTUAL ARRANGEMENT WITH SUCH PROVIDER. YOUR USE OF THIRD-PARTY SERVICES IS NOT UNDER OUR SCRUTINY OR CONTROL, AND TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY MANDATORY, APPLICABLE LAW, WE HAVE NO UNDERTAKINGS OR OBLIGATIONS TO YOU IN SUCH REGARD.

1.4 Consumer Health Data

This section summarizes our consumer health data practices, including for the purposes of the Washington My Health My Data Act and similar state laws. Our full Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy is published separately at maagal.love/consumer-health-data.

2. How We Use Your Information

2.1 Purposes

We may use your information to:

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We share your information in the circumstances and for the purposes described in this section 3 below.

3.1 Other Users

Your profile is visible to other users within your expanded social circle described below as part of the matchmaking experience, and to a user who has sent you, or received from you, a friend request. Your profile is not visible to the public at large.

Your profile, as other users see it, includes your photos and the information you put on it — your name, age, gender, bio and the other texts you write, height, relationship and marital status, children, relationship intentions, occupation, languages, smoking and drinking habits, pets, hobbies, city, your religious faith and denomination, and who you want to meet (which reveals your sexual orientation). It does not include your date of birth (only your age), your phone number, your email address, your location coordinates, your allergies (except as described in §1.4), your matching questionnaire answers, or your dating status.

Specifically, your profile may be seen by:

The dating status is shared between the two of you: each of you sees the latest status either of you set, and who set it. Your note, your "good match" answer and your recommendation answer are not shown to the other person, and none of your check-in answers is shown to other users in your circle. If you choose "not seeing each other", the match and your chat with that person close, and they are told that the match has ended, but not why. If another user introduced the two of you, that person may be told one thing only: whether the two of you are still together, are no longer together, are engaged, or are married. This is derived from both people's answers, and it never says who answered what. Your note, your "good match" answer and your recommendation answer are never shared with them. Nothing is shared with the person who introduced you while any of the three of you has blocked another. Check-in notifications that appear on your device's lock screen may show the other person's display name; the notification sent to the person who introduced you does not show names or the outcome on the lock screen.

Your allergies are never shown to other users (see §1.4).

Chat messages are shared only with the users you communicate with. However, if a user reports another user from within a chat or regarding a chat conversation, the reported chat content may be reviewed by our support staff, legal advisers, and consultants as part of the investigation, and may be disclosed for purposes of conducting that investigation and handling its outcome.

3.2 Third-Party Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to operate and improve MAAGAL. They are:

These service providers are bound to process your data only as necessary to provide their services to MAAGAL and are bound by contractual obligations to protect your information.

3.3 Business Transfers

If MAAGAL is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change together with certain choices you may have regarding your information.

We may disclose your information if required to:

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers provided by third party providers such as Supabase (hosted on Amazon Web Services). We implement industry-standard security measures including:

While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no methods of electronic transfer and storage are 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee information security.

If a security incident involving your personal information occurs, we will investigate it, take steps to contain it, and notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires us to, within the time it requires.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information during the period that your account is active and for extended periods limited in time for specific purposes, as described below. While your account is active, a conversation that has ended is kept for 2 years after it ends, so that both of you can still read it, and is then deleted.

When you delete your account:

Notwithstanding the foregoing, to the extent permitted by applicable law: (a) records of the alerts our team received about reports and suspensions (internal account identifiers only), the enforcement data described in §5.1, and usage data that is not linked to your name or contact details may be retained after account deletion to protect other users and comply with legal obligations or to analyze or improve the Service; and (b) the periods of retention set out in the sections of this Privacy Policy may be extended for purposes of ensuring user safety, dispute resolution and legal compliance.

5.1 Data Retained After Suspension or Ban

If your account is suspended or banned for violation/s of our Terms of Use, we may retain the following data for as long as the suspension or ban remains in effect, to protect our community and to prevent re-registration, and then delete it:

If your account is banned and a facial recognition embedding was created for it during identity verification (a mathematical representation used for similarity matching — see §9.3), we keep that embedding for up to 1 year after the ban to detect attempts to re-register, and then delete it. This data is stored in a reasonably secure manner, accessible to our safety systems and authorized administrators, and is used for enforcement type purposes. You may request review of a suspension or ban by contacting us at support@maagal.love.

5.2 Phone Number Exchange Records

When you exchange phone numbers with another user through the App's mutual exchange feature, we retain a record of the exchange for up to 2 years after the exchange date, even if you delete your account. This record includes:

This data is retained for:

This data is accessible to authorized support staff, legal advisers and consultants, and government and law enforcement officials. After the 2-year retention period, if there have been no claims, disputes or authority directives requiring continued retention, such exchange records are automatically deleted.

6. Your Rights

6.1 General Rights of Users

You have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal data.

Sensitive information. If you are open to matching, we ask for your separate, express consent before we collect or use sensitive information: your religion and how you observe it; who you want to meet, which reveals your sexual orientation; your allergies, if you choose to add them, and those we detect in your profile texts, which are never shown to anyone; and how your dating is going after you exchange numbers. This consent is asked for on its own screen, apart from the Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy. Without it you can still use the Service, but you will not be open to matching.

Consent records. We keep a record of each consent you give — which document or consent, its version, when you gave it, and the app platform and version you used — so that we can show what you agreed to. Acceptance given when you sign up is recorded when your account first connects to our servers. You can see your consents in the App's Settings, they are included in Export My Data, and they are deleted with your account. When you withdraw your consent to sensitive information, the record of that consent is deleted too.

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

6.2 Additional Rights for United States Residents

Depending on the state you live in (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon and other states with consumer privacy laws), you may have the right to:

Categories of personal information we collect (with the corresponding California categories): identifiers (email, phone number, internal account ID, device identifiers); personal records (name, photos); characteristics of protected classifications (age, gender, religion, sexual orientation as revealed by who you want to meet); commercial information (purchases and coin balance); internet or other electronic network activity (in-app usage); approximate geolocation; audio, electronic or visual information (photos, and messages you send); inferences (compatibility scores and suggested interest tags); and sensitive personal information as listed above. We collect them from you, from your device, and from the sign-in providers described in §1.3; we use them for the purposes in §2; we disclose them to the service providers in §3.2 and to other users as described in §3.1; and we keep them for the periods in §5. We have not sold or shared (for cross-context behavioral advertising) personal information in the past 12 months.

Consumer health data (Washington, Nevada, Connecticut and similar laws). See §1.4 and our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy at maagal.love/consumer-health-data.

Connecticut residents. Because we process sensitive data, the Connecticut Data Privacy Act applies to us. You have the rights above, including access to the inferences we derive about you. We do not sell personal data or process it for targeted advertising, and withdrawing your consent to sensitive information stops that processing.

Nevada residents. We do not sell covered information (NRS 603A.320). You may still send a verified request that we not sell it to privacy@maagal.love; we will respond within 60 days.

How to exercise these rights. Use the in-app settings (Export My Data, Delete Account, editing your profile and preferences, or withdrawing consent), or contact us at privacy@maagal.love. To protect your account, we verify a request by confirming it from the email address or phone number registered to your account. You may use an authorized agent; we will ask the agent for your signed permission and may ask you to confirm your identity directly. We respond within the period the law requires — 45 days under California law, which we may extend once by a further 45 days where reasonably necessary, telling you why.

6.3 Additional Rights for Residents of Canada (including Quebec)

You may access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice; we will tell you the consequences of withdrawing (for example, that you will not be open to matching — see §6.1). We collect sensitive information only with your express consent, given on its own screen.

If you are in Quebec:

Elsewhere in Canada, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you are not satisfied with our response.

6.4 Additional Information for Residents of Australia

We follow the Australian Privacy Principles. You may request access to, and correction of, your personal information as described in §6.1. Your information is stored with, or disclosed to, service providers outside Australia — in the United States and other countries where they operate — and we operate the Service from Israel (see §11).

Decisions made solely by a computer program: rejecting a profile photo (using the photo you upload); and suspending an account suspected of re-registering after a ban, pending review by a person (using the hashed phone number and email address described in §5.1 and, only where identity verification is enabled, facial recognition data). Decisions in which a computer program does something substantially and directly related to making the decision: choosing which profiles are suggested to you, and to whom you are suggested (using the profile, preference and observance information described in §9.1).

If you have a complaint about how we have handled your personal information, contact us first at privacy@maagal.love; we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

6.5 Additional Information for Residents of Israel

Controller. The controller of the MAAGAL database (בעל השליטה במאגר) is Noa Shirli Fredman, sole proprietor, P.O. Box 34021, Jerusalem 9546105, Israel; privacy@maagal.love.

No legal obligation; consequences of refusal. You are under no legal obligation to provide personal information; providing it depends on your free will and consent. Without your account information (phone number or email, name, date of birth and gender) we cannot open an account. Without your separate consent to sensitive information (§6.1) you can use the Service but will not be open to matching. All other information — questionnaire answers, bio, additional photos, allergies and location — is optional; without it, suggestions will be less accurate and distance will not be shown.

Purposes and recipients. We use your information for the purposes in §2 and disclose it only to the recipients, and for the purposes, described in §3.

Information of special sensitivity. Your religious beliefs and observance, who you want to meet (which reveals your sexual orientation), your allergies (health), your answers about Cohen status (which may reveal family status or origin) and, where enabled, facial biometric data are "information of special sensitivity" under the Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981. We process them only with your separate, express consent.

Your rights. You may review the information about you held in our database — yourself, through a representative authorized in writing, or through your guardian — in Hebrew, Arabic or English (§13 of the Law). We will give you access within 30 days of your request. If the information is not correct, complete, clear or up to date, you may ask us to correct or delete it (§14 of the Law). If we agree, we will also inform anyone who received it from us in the previous three years; if we refuse, we will tell you so, with reasons, within 30 days. You may appeal a refusal, or our failure to respond in time, to the Magistrates' Court. We do not charge for requests. Use the App (§6.1), write to privacy@maagal.love, or write to the postal address above. You may also contact the Privacy Protection Authority (הרשות להגנת הפרטיות).

We do not send you advertising or marketing messages unless you have given your consent to receive them, and you may withdraw that consent at any time.

7. Location Data

MAAGAL uses your location to connect you with nearby users. Location data is:

You can disable location access through your device settings. Some features may be limited without location data.

8. Push Notifications and Tracking Technologies

By signing up for the Service, you consent for our sending you push notifications to inform you about new matches, messages, and important updates. You can manage notification preferences through your device settings. We do not send promotional push notifications or marketing emails unless you have agreed to receive them; each such message is marked as advertising and tells you how to stop them.

Push notification tokens are stored, together with the app language you chose so that notifications arrive in that language, and are deleted when you sign out or delete your account.

Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand how the App is used and to improve it. It collects usage data together with device identifiers and, while you are signed in, your internal account identifier. Analytics is part of the Service and cannot be switched off within the App; the device settings for Apple's or Google's own analytics and for ad personalization do not control it. If you delete your account and remove the App, no further analytics data is collected.

We do not sell analytics data, do not use it for advertising, and do not use third-party advertising cookies or track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: because we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is nothing for such a signal to switch off. We do not allow third parties to collect personal information about your activity across other apps or websites through the Service.

9. AI, Automated Processing, and Content Monitoring/Moderation

MAAGAL uses artificial intelligence and automated systems in the Service. AI-assisted match suggestions (§9.1) are an always-on part of the Service. The monitoring, moderation and safety uses described in §9.2 and §9.3 are applied at our discretion and may involve third-party services.

9.1 Match Suggestions and Compatibility

We process your profile information to suggest compatible matches, calculate compatibility scores, and improve recommendations. AI-assisted matching is off until you agree, on the sensitive-information screen, to be open to matching. You can turn it off at any time by withdrawing that consent or by switching to Not Open to Matching.

You also control it through what you choose to provide: the matching questionnaire is optional and can be skipped, and you can edit or clear your interest tags, observance details and other matching answers at any time in your settings. Clearing an answer stops it from being used in further match processing, and deleting your account deletes this data entirely.

What data is processed:

How this processing works: to suggest matches, we use open-source AI models run as our own private copy on Google Cloud (see §3.2 and §11). Google runs them on our instructions and may not use your data for its own purposes or to train AI. Your information is never sent to a third-party AI service such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google Gemini.

9.2 Content Monitoring/Moderation

To maintain a safe environment, we may use automated tools and third-party services to review and moderate user-generated content, including but not limited to:

Content monitoring/moderation may be performed by:

For profile photo moderation, we use AWS Rekognition (operated by Amazon Web Services in the US East region). Photos are automatically rejected if Rekognition detects any of the following categories: Explicit Nudity, Suggestive content, Graphic Violence, Visually Disturbing content, Drugs, or Hate Symbols.

Rejected photos are retained for 30 days to allow you to appeal the automated decision, and following such period (or longer if required for enforcement or compliance purposes) they will be deleted. You have the right to appeal any automated moderation decision by contacting us at support@maagal.love within the 30-day appeal window. Appeals are reviewed by a human member of our team.

Content that is flagged as inappropriate may be removed, and your account may be suspended or terminated in accordance with our Terms of Use.

9.3 Facial Recognition for Identity Verification and Safety

Where enabled for identity verification or safety features, the Service may extract a facial embedding — a mathematical representation of facial features used for face matching. Using facial embeddings, we may:

Server-side face matching is performed by Amazon Web Services (AWS Rekognition), which processes the face data on our instructions as our service provider. Where identity verification is enabled, we will ask for your explicit consent at the time of verification, before any facial recognition data is created.

When enabled, facial embeddings of verified accounts are stored on our servers and with AWS Rekognition (encrypted at rest) and deleted when you delete your account; if your account is banned, see §5.1 (kept for up to 1 year after the ban, then deleted). At any time, you may request deletion of your facial embedding by contacting privacy@maagal.love .

If a similarity match against a banned user is detected, your account may be suspended for manual administration review. If the review determines a false positive, your account will be restored.

9.4 What Data is NOT Processed

Private chat messages are not analyzed by AI for matchmaking purposes. Your photos are not used for AI model training. AI models are not trained on your personal data. We do not collect, use or sell personal data to train large language models or other AI models.

9.5 How the Processing Works

Compatibility scores and match suggestions are generated automatically but are presented for your review — no match decision is made on your behalf without your input. Content monitoring (moderation) decisions may be made automatically, but you may appeal any such decision by contacting us at support@maagal.love .

You can update or remove your profile information through the App settings. Deleting your account removes your data from any regular AI processing.

10. Child Privacy

MAAGAL is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete his or her account and associated data.

If you believe a minor is using the Service, please contact us immediately.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries outside your country of residence. Our database and photo storage are in Australia (Supabase, on Amazon Web Services in Sydney); photo moderation, photo backups, analytics, crash reports, push notifications, text messages and internal alert emails are processed in the United States (see §3.2); our matching models run on Google Cloud; and we operate the Service from Israel. Our service providers may also operate infrastructure in other countries. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.

For cross-border data transfers, we rely on:

Before receiving access to the Service, you will be asked if you consent to the terms and conditions of the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to the storage, transfer and use of your personal information as set out in the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy, do not provide consent and do not use the Service.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will:

Other changes take effect when they are published.

13. Contact Us

If you have questions or complaints about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, you can contact us at:
